Cooking Demonstration/Hands on with 18th Century Recipes
Dine in the atmosphere of the 18th Century New England Countryside, learn the pros of cast iron cooking and the skill of burning sugar for delicious results. Take home a booklet of recipes from your experience. Cast iron pans and muffin tins can be heated to very hot temperatures, hold their heat and create very crusty wonderful baked goods. Guided Nature Walks/Wilderness Instruction, Animal Tracking and Snow shoe/X-Country Skiing
Raymond Decoste can walk and talk you though the on site brook, marsh trails and management trails. Learn about the multitude of animals living on site and in the surrounding foliage. An experienced outdoors man, Ray can also tailor his programs to suit your interests, experience and skill levels. He has spent 4 years in the Armed Forces, 16 years in boy scouts, worked for 4 years at Eastern Mountain Sports and started a Venturing Crew Program for Boy Scouts of Rhode Island. Custom design programs include basic backpacking, rigging, navigation, site selection, water purification, survival skills, day hikes, and overnights or take you to the White Mountains. Gain adventure, take on a challenge, find independence get exercise and feel prepared. Prices vary by program and number of participants in the group.
Field Trip
For Grades 3-8
Our goal is to connect children to American history through participation.
Children will learn to cook lunch from Thomas Jefferson's own recipes, play games of of the 1700's, tour the historic farm house, interact with the farm animals, observe the local wildlife, hike the trails, learn about survival techniques and study/draw plant life.
Hay Rides
Experience a hay ride through scenic Rhode Island.
Hiking or Mountain Biking
Enjoy long hikes or mountain biking on over 75 miles of trails. Or explore the back roads on a street bike.
Water Activities
Fishing, swimming, kayaking and canoeing is available nearby.

Browse through over 35 nearby antique shops.
Encounter Wild Animals
Visit Southwick Zoo (New England's largest zoo) .

Cast Iron Cooking Demonstration and Participation
